File processing stays local.

Learn how the FolderNode app and website handle data, including license activation and optional feedback.

Files and local storage

Image, video, sorting and folder-watch processing runs on your Mac using Rust, macOS and bundled FFmpeg. Processing does not upload your selected files. FFmpeg network features are disabled. Workflows, preferences and run logs are stored locally.

The current app has no analytics or automatic crash reporting. Opening purchase or release links opens your browser and connects to those websites.

License requests

Activation sends your license key and the device name you enter to Lemon Squeezy’s license API (api.lemonsqueezy.com).

Verification sends the key and activation ID on app/settings launch, during periodic checks, after reconnection or on manual verification. Regular checks occur daily, with retries after connection failures. File contents are not sent.

Deactivation sends the key and activation ID. This Mac returns to Free when deactivation starts. If the server cannot release the slot, the key and activation ID are retained for retry and cleared after a successful release.

License keys, device names, activation IDs, status and last verification times are stored in the app’s WebView localStorage, not macOS Keychain. The licensing provider may also handle IP addresses and connection logs.

Optional feedback

Pressing Send sends the category, message, language and any selected diagnostics through Cloudflare to an issue in the app’s private GitHub repository. We do not collect reply email addresses or provide individual replies. Do not include email addresses or personal information in your message.

Diagnostics are off by default: if selected, they contain app version, platform, license status and last-run status. They do not include the license key, instance ID or a file list. There are no attachment uploads. Review free text before sending: filtering does not guarantee anonymity. Copying diagnostics writes them to your clipboard.

Feedback is not automatically forwarded to AI.

App updates

At startup and when you check manually, the app retrieves update information served through GitHub Releases. Choosing Update and restart downloads a signed update. Your file contents and license key are not sent. The service receives request information such as your IP address and connection time.

This website and checkout

We use PostHog analytics to understand website usage and improve the paths to downloads and checkout. We record page views and exits, and clicks on links to the download page, release files and checkout. A click does not mean a download or purchase was completed.

PostHog receives page URLs, referrers, campaign parameters such as UTM tags, browser, operating system, device and screen information, event times, and browser and session identifiers. Tracked link clicks also include their position on the page, displayed text and destination URL. URLs can include query strings; do not put personal information or license keys in website URLs.

Analytics uses this website’s cookies, localStorage and sessionStorage to store identifiers and attribution information. Data is sent to PostHog’s US region (us.i.posthog.com), and its SDK loads from us-assets.i.posthog.com. The service receives your IP address and may use it to determine approximate location. See PostHog’s privacy policy.

Session recording and automatic capture of clicks and input interactions are disabled. We do not identify visitors by name or email address. This analytics does not send files processed by the app or content pasted into the Docs connection helper.

You can block requests to PostHog with a browser content blocker to stop analytics. Stored cookies, localStorage and sessionStorage can be removed through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing site data alone does not stop future analytics or the creation of new identifiers, and does not delete data already sent. For privacy inquiries, contact [email protected].

We also store your language choice in localStorage. Google Fonts requests connect to Google; the website host and font provider may receive your IP address, request time and browser request information. Local file processing in the app is separate from these website connections.

When you open checkout, we pass anonymous browser and session identifiers and campaign information to Lemon Squeezy to connect website visits with purchases. A receiver on Cloudflare verifies payment notifications and sends the order ID, product ID, currency, total paid, purchase time and those identifiers and campaign details to PostHog. Names, email addresses, addresses and license keys in the notification are not forwarded to PostHog. Our receiver does not store or log notification bodies. Blocking browser requests does not stop server-side purchase counts.

Purchases use Lemon Squeezy’s checkout. Refer to the privacy information shown at checkout for how purchase information is handled.

Email inquiries

Inquiries sent to [email protected] are forwarded through Cloudflare to Gmail, where we receive and reply to them. Replies may come from a Gmail address. We use your sender address, message, optional attachments and order details to handle your inquiry. Do not send confidential information or your full license key.
